    THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Cloud Security Engineer is a key member of Alegion’s Engineering team. As a Cloud Security Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that Alegion’s AI Enablement platform meets our security and compliance mandates. The CSE plans and carries out security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks. The CSE partners with business stakeholders, architects and software engineers to achieve secure designs and implementations. The CSE is the technical authority on cloud security architecture within the company.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Work closely with Alegion’s engineering teams to continuously review existing architecture, identify gaps, and recommend and implement security fixes and enhancement
    • Write software to detect, remediate, and enforce security standards in AWS
    • Provide architectural oversight and direction for company-wide security technology
    • Establish a strategic security architecture vision, including standards and frameworks that are aligned with overall business strategy
    • Work with our security-focused managed service partners to monitor our environment for vulnerabilities and attacks
    • Collaborate with our compliance team on security audits and security assessment requests
    • Evaluate and recommend new security products and technologies
    • Understand current and emerging security threats and design security architecture to mitigate them
    • Contribute to application and vendor risk assessments
    • Develop strategies to detect potential security incidents and to respond to and recover from a security incident
    • Monitor networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions and install software that detects intrusions and irregular system behavior.
    • Lead security incident response activities, conduct technical and forensic analysis to determine the extent of the damage and root causes, and prepare incident reports for management
    • Conduct periodic scans of company source code, infrastructure and networks to identify security and licensing vulnerabilities
    • Conduct penetration testing to highlight or find any weaknesses that might be exploited by a malicious party

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • College degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent professional experience
    • 7+ years of experience in the management of information systems with at least 5 years of formal experience in information security
    • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and integrating security controls into SaaS cloud platforms
    • 3+ years of experience with AWS
    • Experience in at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript or Python)
    • Experience with system and network exploitation methods, attack pathologies, and intrusion techniques (such as denial of service, sync attacks, malicious code, password cracking, etc.)
    • Knowledge of computer forensic tools, technologies and methods
    • Direct experience with anti-virus software, intrusion detection, firewalls and content filtering
    • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
    • Awareness of technologies like Git, Terraform, Docker
    • Awareness of container orchestration like Kubernetes
    • Professional Security certifications: GIAC certifications, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), or comparable
    • Start-up experience and entrepreneurial spirit highly preferred
    • Strong time management, organizational and multitasking skills
    • Detail oriented and thorough
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
    • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
